Wendy Perla Kurtz, PhD, is a Digital Humanities Specialist at Gale where she assists in the evolution of Gale’s Digital Scholarship Program, including the support, and development of Gale’s Digital Scholar Lab—a research environment designed to assist digital scholarship in the academic community by facilitating text mining and visualization projects. Wendy earned her PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Department of Spanish and Portuguese. She also holds a graduate certificate in the Digital Humanities from UCLA, and her research, teaching, and project work demonstrates her commitment to use digital platforms to enrich scholarship. During her last four years at UCLA, Wendy worked at the UCLA Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) as a Research and Instructional Technology Consultant (RITC). There, she supported Humanities faculty in the use of technology for instruction and contributed to digital research projects undertaken in cooperation with CDH. Wendy has helped design and manage digital research and pedagogy projects for faculty and students in Musicology, Art History, Comparative Literature, Spanish & Portuguese, Germanic Languages, and English, among others.
