Lehigh University and Texas A&M University are members of the Open Library Environment (OLE), a library collaboration to build open source, extensible, and service-driven library management tools. Lehigh is running the OLE open source library services platform (LSP) and Wiles-Young will describe the development of that system, lessons learned, and the potential of open source for libraries. She and Sullenger will then discuss FOLIO, the open source LSP currently being developed by OLE and EBSCO and other partners. They will explain the functions of the Special Interest Groups and role of the FOLIO Product Council in coordinating development, highlighting the OLE libraries’ role in the FOLIO effort. Sullenger and Wiles-Young will also show some of the FOLIO prototypes and development happening in the project.
