Director of Collections
Antje Mays, Director of Collections at University of Kentucky Libraries, leads collection management efforts in support of the University's growing academic programs and research activities. An experienced linguist, translator, and interpreter, she also serves as academic liaison to UK's Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Cultures including French, Italian, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic. Over her library career, she has led successful grants, including hosted Library of Congress RDA training and a collaborative grant supporting instructional materials and activities for Education and Language majors learning to teach preschool Spanish.

Following her MLIS, she earned her MBA and EdD -- her doctoral dissertation examines skill gaps identified through business, economics, education, and military research and adapts active learning strategies for developing these needed skills in postsecondary education and training settings. She regularly writes for Against the Grain as editor of the "Mayflower: Ode to New Beginnings" column and as contributor to the journal's "Biz of Acq" column. She has also written for Library Management Today and has served as book editor for International Leads. Her publications and presentations have covered ebooks, assessment and accreditations, fundraising, business models and technologies in libraries, management, and national security.

She has served the profession and broader community in diverse ways including as treasurer, membership director, mentor, church officer, automation implementer and data analyst, and fundraiser. Experienced in libraries, training, business, management, data analysis, web design, language translation and multilingual research, as well as art and design, she brings broad perspectives to connecting learners with knowledge.
